Role description
Job title: Business Analyst – Advanced (Onsite)
Duration of the Contract: 12 Months
Location: Columbia, SC
Duties:
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, rules, and functional specifications for Government IT projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, project managers, developers, and end users to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Conduct requirement elicitation sessions, including interviews, workshops, and document reviews.
• Develop and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), and use cases.
• Support all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from planning and design through testing and implementation.
• Analyze existing systems and business processes to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Assist in system design validation to ensure alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
• Write and execute SQL queries for data analysis, validation, and reporting purposes.
• Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect resolution.
• Track project progress, risks, and issues using tools such as JIRA.
• Prepare project status reports, presentations, and documentation using Microsoft Office tools.
• Ensure compliance with government policies, standards, and security regulations.
• Support change management activities, including impact analysis and stakeholder communication.
• Provide ongoing support and enhancements for implemented systems.
• Mentor junior analysts and promote best practices in business analysis.
Skills:
• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related area and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
• 5+ years of experience with Government IT Projects as a Business Analyst or in related roles.
• 5+ years of experience in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business rules, processes, and requirements.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with the system development life cycle (SDLC).
• 1+ years of experience with SQL database.
Preferred:
• International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA).
• Certification such as PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis)
• 1+ years of experience using JIRA and Microsoft Office Products.
