About The Role
This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.
FDM is seeking a Business Analyst located in Newark, NJ to support a project in the Securities Finance & Collateral Management technology team. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 9 months but may be extended.
This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 2-3 days per week.
About You
This role identifies and analyzes business needs to develop effective solutions for complex challenges. These solutions may include software system development, process improvements, organizational changes, or strategic planning and policy development. Serves as a liaison between IT development teams and business units to design, implement, and enhance systems. Evaluates emerging technologies and changing business requirements to recommend appropriate system alternatives and enhancements. Prepares clear communications and presentations to convey proposed solutions and their benefits.
Responsibilities
β’ Act as the liaison between Product and technology teams to ensure clear understanding and alignment of business objectives and technical solutions.
β’ Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements through workshops, interviews, and process reviews.
β’ Develop comprehensive documentation, including Business Requirements Documents (BRD), Functional Requirements Documents (FRD), user stories, and process models.
β’ Collaborate with solution architects and developers to design scalable, efficient solutions that meet business needs.
β’ Conduct gap analyses to identify improvements between current (βas-isβ) and future (βto-beβ) state processes.
β’ Support development teams by clarifying requirements, managing scope changes, and reviewing interim deliverables.
β’ Partner with QA and business teams to define and execute test cases, manage UAT, and ensure traceability of requirements.
β’ Facilitate deployment readiness through business validation, training, and communication support.
β’ Monitor post-implementation performance, gather feedback, and recommend continuous improvements or system enhancements.
Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
β’ 3+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or a related role
β’ Strong understanding of business processes, system development life cycles, and project management fundamentals
β’ Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
β’ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
β’ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
β’ Proficiency with requirements gathering, documentation, and presentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Visio, or similar)
β’ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic environment
