Business Analyst (Financial Derivatives)
Hybrid 4 days/week in NYC
Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Derivatives Business Analyst with a strong blend of financial market knowledge and hands-on technical skills. This role supports the launch of new derivative products, ensures seamless platform operations, and bridges communication between trading, business, and IT teams. The ideal candidate possesses deep experience in derivatives, financial engineering, and functional system testing.
Responsibilities:
β’ Collaborate in a fast-paced trading environment to support product launches and platform enhancements.
β’ Develop detailed Agile user stories in Jira to capture business and technical requirements.
β’ Perform hands-on functional testing of derivative trading systems.
β’ Analyze and understand index or portfolio structures as well as attributes of CDX.
β’ Provide insight into how derivatives are used to hedge against Fixed Index Annuities.
β’ Act as a subject matter expert, guiding teams with a strong understanding of financial markets and derivatives strategies.
β’ Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business objectives.
Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
β’ Experience in a trading environment with exposure to derivatives platforms.
β’ Proficiency with SQL and advanced Excel skills.
β’ Hands-on experience in functional testing of trading systems.
β’ Demonstrated knowledge of Fixed Index Annuities and derivatives (especially CDX).
β’ Strong analytical and financial engineering mindset; not a typical Project Manager role.
β’ Excellent communication skills, with an ability to explain complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
