

Business Analyst
We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst to work remotely from anywhere in the US as a member of the DataOps team within the Division of Data Management and Research for our Austin, Texas client. This role supports the Data Hubs Initiative, a major multi-year effort to transition from siloed, on-premises data environments to a modern, cloud-based architecture using Snowflake. The ideal candidate will work closely with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Program SMEs to facilitate data discovery, documentation, quality assurance, and technical validation for a growing portfolio of data hubs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct data discovery for newly proposed data hubs.
• Analyze and document data processes to support design and implementation.
• Develop comprehensive data dictionaries, listings, and reference materials.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for each data hub.
• Support quality assurance and data validation efforts throughout the development lifecycle.
• Assist with data mapping and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) practices.
• Collaborate with technical staff to understand existing SAS codebases and assist in the interpretation of legacy logic as needed.
Planned Data Hubs for 2025:
The following hubs are slated for development and deployment over the next 12 months. Each hub typically requires 80–100 days to complete, depending on complexity and data maturity:
• Transfer
• 8th Grade Cohort
• Faculty
• Applications & Admissions
• College Readiness / TSI
Requirements:
• 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst working in data-centric projects.
• Strong experience with Snowflake, SnowSQL, and SQL-based data structures.
• Demonstrated experience with data mapping, documentation, and process modeling.
• Understanding of SAS programming logic and ability to interpret SAS code.
• Experience with data warehousing, data discovery, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with data validation and quality assurance techniques.
• Skilled in UAT practices and standards
Preferred:
• Experience working in higher education or public sector data environments.
• Background in education data systems, student information systems, or related areas.
• Experience with modular or framework-based data architecture approaches.
Soft Skills & Attributes:
• Self-starter with the ability to quickly get up to speed and contribute to a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality deliverables.
