Role description
Title: Business Analyst
Location: Hybrid in Oakland, CA
Duration: 12 month contract with extensions
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct research, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
• Analyze large datasets using Excel (pivot tables, index matches, charts) and develop dashboards for project tracking
• Translate regulatory and internal requirements into clear business and technical documentation
• Collaborate with developers and technical teams to define requirements, testing criteria, and user documentation.
• Support project close-out activities, including documentation and stakeholder communication.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions to support user adoption and understanding.
• Maintain business requirements, data dictionaries, and API documentation.
• Enhance accessibility of documentation (e.g., screen reader compatibility, plain language alternatives)
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with a technical emphasis (e.g., Business, Engineering, Information Systems).
• 2+ years of experience in business analysis or related field.
• Proficient in Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Visio, Lucidchart).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate gas work procedures, standards, and policies.
• Experience working with offshore teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Familiarity with GIS concepts and tabular data is a plus.
Preferred Skills
• Technical writing and documentation experience.
• Experience in ESG, sustainability, or regulatory environments.
• Creative problem-solving and process mapping expertise.
• Flexibility in work hours and ability to work independently.
• Understanding of electrical systems or willingness to learn.
