Role description
Job Description:
The client is building a new Corporate Credit Technology team from the ground up. This group will work directly with public and private credit asset managers, portfolio managers, CLO traders, loan traders, and asset-backed security (ABS) traders to develop next-generation investment tools and solutions.
We're looking for a junior-to-mid-level Business Analyst who thrives in the weeds — someone who can attend client-facing meetings solo, translate complex financial workflows into actionable requirements, and get hands-on with market data. This is not a people-management role; it's a high-impact individual contributor position on a team being built from scratch.
What You'll Do
• Partner directly with CLO traders, loan traders, and ABS traders to understand their pain points and build solutions around them
• Write clear business and data requirements for front office technology initiatives
• Validate market data against portfolio manager requests, ensuring accuracy across sources like Bloomberg (API and plug-in), S&P, Moody's, and Fitch
• Work closely with the OMS/Charles River team to support day-to-day operations and new development
• Help oversee and improve trading platform and investment workflow tools
• Leverage AI tools to solve problems and improve efficiency — this is actively encouraged
• Support the transition of private financials to AI-powered tooling that reduces administrative burden on portfolio managers
• Collaborate with a market data team being built in parallel
What We're Looking For
Background & Experience
• 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, ideally at a credit-focused firm (asset management, credit hedge fund, private credit, or similar)
• Experience at large-scale alternatives firms (Apollo, Blackstone, KKR, Ares, etc.) or smaller, hands-on shops is valued equally — what matters is depth of exposure
• Familiarity with the credit lifecycle across both public and private markets
• OMS experience (Charles River preferred, but comparable systems considered)
Technical Skills
• Comfortable working with large datasets and multiple market data sources
• Hands-on experience with Bloomberg (API or plug-in), S&P, Moody's, or Fitch data
• Solid SQL skills; Python is a plus but not required
• Understanding of data lineage, data structures, and how to validate data accuracy
• Track record of applying AI tools to real work problems (not just updating a resume)
Soft Skills
• Strong business acumen — can walk into a meeting with traders and PMs and hold their own
• Creative problem-solver who thinks on their feet
• Detail-oriented with a genuine understanding that data accuracy is non-negotiable in a compliance-sensitive environment
• Collaborative and self-directed; comfortable operating in a build-it-as-you-go environment
Nice to Have
• Experience with Charles River's private markets module (Mercado heritage)
• Knowledge of CLO structures, loan trading, or ABS
• Familiarity with Intex or other specialized ABS data vendors
Experience at a firm that has implemented or is actively using AI for front office workflows
