Role description
Location: Ridgefield, CT (Hybrid preferred; Remote considered for strong candidates) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm (40 hrs/week) Contract Length: 12 Months Overview: This role supports Trade & Distribution Analytics function, providing high-level analytical insights across pharmaceutical trade channels. The focus is on understanding how product flows from manufacturer β†’ wholesaler β†’ trade partner β†’ pharmacy, and identifying where the organization may be losing revenue or facing inefficiencies. The specialist will analyze wholesaler inventory data, shipment trends, pricing adjustments, rebates/chargebacks, and related distribution metrics. They will apply analytical skills (SQL + Python/R) to deliver deep-dive insights, create KPIs, investigate root causes, and recommend actions to optimize trade performance. This position is not a forecasting roleβ€”it is hands-on trade data analysis involving operational details such as EDI files, price changes, and inventory movement. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Analyze pharmaceutical trade data to understand product distribution across wholesalers, trade partners, specialty pharmacies, and retail channels. β€’ Work deeply with EDI data sets: 1. 849 – Inventory movement & research report 1. 852 – Inventory activity report 1. 867 – Sales & product transfer report β€’ Evaluate: 1. Shipment trends 1. Wholesaler inventory levels 1. Inventory vs. sales discrepancies 1. Pricing adjustments, debits, chargebacks, returns β€’ Conduct root cause analysis and develop actionable insights on where revenue leakage may be occurring. β€’ Build KPIs and tracking metrics across trade operations. β€’ Support Marketing & Sales with insights on inventory availability, geographic gaps, and trade partner performance. β€’ Evaluate distribution challenges, such as: 1. Backlogs 1. Delayed shipments 1. Price changes impacting rebates β€’ Translate complex trade data into clear, meaningful narratives for cross-functional teams. β€’ Use SQL + Python/R to clean, manipulate, summarize, and visualize large datasets. β€’ Collaborate with Trade Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Marketing Analytics teams. Required Qualifications (Must Have): β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business/Data Analytics, or related field. β€’ 5–6+ years of hands-on experience with pharmaceutical trade datasets (must include 849, 852, 867). β€’ Strong knowledge of wholesaler data and distribution systems involving: 1. McKesson 1. Cardinal Health 1. AmerisourceBergen (Cencora) 1. CVS / CVS Specialty Hands-on experience analyzing: 1. Inventory movement 1. Price changes 1. Chargebacks 1. Returns 1. Rebates β€’ Strong skills in SQL and either Python or R. β€’ Ability to perform data cleaning, summarization, KPI creation, and visualization (Power BI or similar). β€’ Experience delivering strategic insights and root-cause analysis. β€’ Ability to work Eastern or Central time zone hours. Preferred (Nice-to-Have): β€’ Experience in medical device trade analytics (manager confirmed acceptable). β€’ Knowledge of marketing mix modeling or promotional analytics. β€’ Experience with Databricks, Power BI, or SAS (tools are flexible). β€’ Experience in commercial operations, GTN, or pharma manufacturer analytics.
