JustinBradley’s client, a leading source of mortgage financing, is seeking a highly skilled Business Data Analyst to join their team and play a critical role in understanding, documenting, and communicating business needs and data requirements for complex systems development projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of business acumen and technical proficiency, particularly in SQL, data analysis, and large data integration efforts. This role will work closely with business users, developers, testers, and stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and successful project delivery. Must be local to Reston, VA for their hybrid requirement. Responsibilities: • Understand business context, processes, and challenges; articulate them clearly through written and verbal communication. • Collaborate with business users and leads to gather, define, and document functional and data requirements. • Analyze current data architectures, flows, and systems to support informed recommendations. • Perform deep-dive data analysis to support business and system understanding, data quality improvements, and project scope. • Deliver comprehensive documentation, including process flows, data mappings, presentations, and detailed requirement specifications. • Act as the point of contact for developers and QA teams by clarifying requirements and addressing business scenarios during development and testing phases. • Propose solutions for business problems by analyzing complex processes and data dependencies. • Support all phases of the SDLC, including scope definition, functional documentation, and user acceptance testing. • Develop and maintain test plans, cases, and scripts based on business and technical requirements. • Communicate findings, risks, and issues to stakeholders clearly and proactively. Requirements: • 4+ years of experience in business and data analysis for systems development projects. • 4+ years in a consulting environment with a focus on business and data analysis. • Strong experience with SQL and data querying for analysis and validation. • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access), and Visio. • Hands-on experience working with data warehouses and on large-scale data integration initiatives. • Experience translating complex business requirements into clear and actionable technical deliverables. • Ability to independently understand and analyze data quality assets with minimal guidance. • Solid understanding of relational databases and user interface design principles. • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. • Strong communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. • Experience in Agile environments and using Jira for tracking and collaboration. • Proven ability to develop test plans and document testing outcomes.
