Business Data Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst to join our growing engineering team in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data analysis, business analysis, and requirements gathering, and will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams. Job Title: Business Data Analyst Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid) Work Schedule: 3 Days Remote / 2 Days Onsite (Wednesday & Thursday mandatory) Experience Required: 8+ Years Overview This role will support major system modernization initiatives and enhancement projects related to Medicaid Enterprise Systems (MES). The candidate will work in a SAFe Agile environment, supporting documentation, system enhancements, and integration efforts across multiple vendor teams. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Key Responsibilities • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams including architecture, project delivery, and application support teams. • Analyze raw data and business processes to identify insights and opportunities for improvement. • Gather, document, and manage business and system requirements for application development and enhancements. • Review and evaluate business systems, workflows, and user needs to align with organizational strategies. • Perform business process mapping and reengineering to improve operational efficiency. • Prepare solution options, risk assessments, and financial analyses including cost-benefit and ROI. • Develop detailed documentation for user requirements, system functionality, and development steps. • Support Medicaid IT-contracted systems initiatives, including application enhancements and modernization efforts. • Provide project and product oversight for integrated projects across multiple vendors. • Assist in developing processes, standards, and documentation to ensure consistent solutions aligned with agency strategy. • Participate in Agile/SAFe ceremonies, supporting sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release coordination. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Required Skills & Experience • 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst. • Strong experience in: o Data analysis and interpreting raw datasets o Business requirements gathering and documentation o Business systems analysis o Business process mapping and reengineering • Proven experience acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams. • Ability to create detailed functional documentation, process flows, and system requirements. • Experience evaluating technology solutions to solve business problems. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Preferred Skills • Experience working in an Agile environment (preferably SAFe). • Experience supporting Medicaid or healthcare systems. • Knowledge of Texas HHSC processes. • Experience working with Texas Medicaid or CHIP systems. • PMP certification or project management exposure is a plus.
