Job Title: Business Data Analyst / BI Engineer / Power BI Developer Location: Hybrid – 3 days onsite Job Type: Contract-to-Permanent About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Business Data Analyst with a strong blend of user experience, business analysis, and data analytics expertise. This hybrid role will be pivotal in translating business needs into secure, user-centered analytics solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders, analyze complex data sets, and deliver actionable insights to drive strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, technically savvy, and driven by empathy for the customer. You will ensure that our analytics solutions are robust, accessible, and aligned with business objectives. Key Responsibilities: • Requirements Gathering: Elicit, document, and validate business requirements through interviews, workshops, and surveys. Create detailed specifications, use cases, user stories, and process flows. • Data Analysis: • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets. • Analyze data for trends, patterns, data quality issues, and integration opportunities. • Prepare clear, data-driven reports and presentations for stakeholders. • Collaborate with data engineers and modelers to ensure data quality and integrity. • Understand data normalization, denormalization, and ETL processes. • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements. Measure impact and ensure metadata and data governance are maintained. • Project Support: Assist project managers with scope, timelines, deliverables, and risk tracking. Facilitate communication between business and development teams. • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships across all levels, manage expectations, and address concerns. Qualifications: • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Advanced skills in SQL and Power BI; experience with Tableau a plus. • Knowledge of Power BI security, environment migration, and user experience best practices. • Experience in data modeling, ETL development, data governance, and addressing data quality issues. • Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies. • Previous roles as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or BI Engineer preferred. • Degree in Data Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred. • Waste Management experience is a plus. • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. • Valid driver’s license.
