Role description
Title: Business Data Modeler Location: Westwood, MA or Johnston, RI (Hybrid/Onsite) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Business Data Architect / Data Modeler to lead enterprise-wide data architecture and modeling initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing canonical data models, implementing semantic data mesh architectures, and enabling real-time data streaming solutions. This role will be responsible for establishing scalable data frameworks that support analytics, AI/ML initiatives, data governance, and enterprise integration across cloud platforms. Key Responsibilities β€’ Design and maintain enterprise canonical data models to ensure consistency across business domains and applications. β€’ Develop and implement semantic data mesh architectures to support decentralized data ownership and governance. β€’ Define enterprise data standards, modeling frameworks, and best practices. β€’ Architect and optimize real-time data streaming solutions using Kafka and event-driven architectures. β€’ Design scalable cloud-based data platforms leveraging AWS services and Snowflake. β€’ Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, analytics teams, and application architects to translate business requirements into data solutions. β€’ Establish data governance, metadata management, lineage, and data quality frameworks. β€’ Support AI/ML initiatives by creating reusable, trusted, and governed data assets. β€’ Design and optimize data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse architectures. β€’ Develop data integration patterns for batch and real-time processing. β€’ Conduct architecture reviews and provide recommendations for performance, scalability, and security improvements. β€’ Mentor junior data architects, modelers, and engineering teams on enterprise data practices. Required Skills & Qualifications β€’ 8+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Modeling, or Enterprise Data Management. β€’ Strong expertise in Canonical Data Modeling and enterprise data architecture principles. β€’ Experience implementing Semantic Data Mesh frameworks and domain-driven data architectures. β€’ Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and real-time/event-driven data pipelines. β€’ Strong proficiency with AWS services: β€’ S3 β€’ Redshift β€’ Glue β€’ EMR β€’ Lambda β€’ Extensive experience with Snowflake architecture, modeling, and optimization. β€’ Strong programming skills in Python and advanced SQL. β€’ Experience designing enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, and modern data platforms. β€’ Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality practices. β€’ Familiarity with AI/ML data preparation and feature engineering concepts. Preferred Qualifications β€’ Experience with data cataloging and governance tools. β€’ Knowledge of modern data architecture patterns including lakehouse and mesh architectures. β€’ Experience working in regulated industries such as utilities, healthcare, banking, or insurance. β€’ AWS, Snowflake, or Data Architecture certifications are a plus. β€’ Experience supporting enterprise analytics and AI/ML platforms.
