Role description
Role: Business Intelligence Analyst Location: San Leandro, CA (1 to 2 days onsite) Duration: 6 months Contract to Hire Overview: The Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) supports the Client's Health Care Services Agency's Information Systems (IS) division by transforming data into actionable insights that drive operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. Working under the supervision of the Business Intelligence Deputy Director and Coordinator, this role focuses on data analysis, visualization, and process optimization across the agency's Social Health Information Exchange (SHIE) and other key data assets. The ideal candidate will leverage tools like Power BI, SQL, and Snowflake to design and deliver data-driven solutions that enhance performance, streamline workflows, and inform program strategies. β€’ Key Responsibilities: β€’ Analyze large, complex data sets and develop visualizations, reports, and dashboards using Power BI. β€’ Collaborate with data architects and engineers to ensure data quality, completeness, and integration across systems. β€’ Compile and interpret business data to identify challenges, propose solutions, and optimize operations. β€’ Partner with stakeholders to define reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications. β€’ Support the Client's IS Business Intelligence team in data management, analytics, and knowledge management activities. β€’ Maintain clear documentation of designs, requirements, and training materials. β€’ Contribute to the BI roadmap and support continuous improvement initiatives. β€’ Required Qualifications: β€’ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field. β€’ 2+ years of experience in healthcare, public sector, or informatics with strong SQL skills. β€’ 1+ year of experience developing dashboards in Power BI. β€’ Proven experience in analyzing large, complex datasets and creating data visualizations to support decision-making. β€’ Working knowledge of Snowflake, SQL databases, and data modeling preferred. β€’ Key Skills & Competencies: β€’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. β€’ Excellent communication skills for interfacing with technical and non-technical stakeholders. β€’ Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and familiarity with Python, R, or DAX is a plus. β€’ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, data-driven environment.
