Business Intelligence Analyst (Contract)
Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.
Summary:
This position offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a strategic partner to business and functional leaders, translating complex data into meaningful insights that drive organizational success. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining comprehensive KPI frameworks and performance reporting systems that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role requires a unique blend of analytical expertise and business acumen, bridging the gap between raw data and actionable intelligence. The position involves close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure metrics are clearly defined, consistently measured, and directly aligned with business objectives, while also establishing governance standards and automating reporting processes to enhance scalability and reliability.
Job Responsibilities:
Partner with business stakeholders to define, document, and standardize KPIs aligned to business objectives
Design and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and recurring performance reports including weekly, monthly, and executive-level reporting
Analyze KPI trends, variances, and drivers to surface insights and recommendations
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reports and sources
Automate reporting processes to improve scalability and reliability
Develop clear data visualizations and narratives tailored to executive and operational audiences
Establish reporting governance, definitions, and metric documentation
Support ad hoc analysis and deep dives to inform decision-making
Continuously improve KPI frameworks based on evolving business needs
Publish regular performance reports and sync with stakeholders on findings
Requirements:
8 to 10 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or performance reporting
5 to 8 years of experience building end-to-end dashboards from model through visuals to publication
5 to 8 years of experience in data querying and transformation
5 to 8 years of experience in KPI design, performance measurement, and analysis
Direct ownership of KPI reporting, not just consumption of dashboards built by others
Experience supporting operational, finance, procurement, or supply chain functions preferred
Experience working with large or complex datasets across multiple systems preferred
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
Strong proficiency in Power BI and business intelligence reporting tools
Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
Working knowledge of SQL and data modeling
Expertise in translating business questions into measurable KPIs
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication skills with ability to present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with data visualization and storytelling
Knowledge of KPI governance and metric standardization best practices
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
