The role
The Data Insights & Reporting Specialist will be responsible for analysing data produced across the business, deriving insights and recommendations for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Board and leaders across Connected Places Catapult (CPC). The role holder will have a passion for working with data and bring a structured approach to developing insights from all disciplines across the business.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of CPC’s strategic journey driving the data strategy forwards, spearheading a citizen-developer centre of excellence approach, implementing a data visualisation programme. The Data Insights & Reporting Specialist will collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to establish and build a suite of semantic models, reports and visualisations. Once established, the key function of the role will be applying intelligence to the data gathered to inform decision making, alongside driving the self-service approach to analytics within the business.
You will be responsible for working with Digital team colleagues to ensure that appropriate data sources are in place to enable accurate reporting and analysis to be undertaken by the wider group of colleagues. The key focus of this will be improving the quality of analysis derived from activities across all areas of the organisation.
Requirements
• Work closely with the data owners across the business to ensure high quality, complete and timely modelling and reporting is achieved
• Analyse data and produce reports, dashboards, and visualisation along with recommendations that enables Data driven interventions that enable CPC to achieve its targets
• Working with colleagues to put in place metrics that allow CPC to track and evidence its performance, supporting the various corporate services functions.
• Support the preparation and collation of data for key metrics, working with key stakeholders across the business, to draw together reporting requirements
• Working with colleagues to turn analysis into compelling outcome-based insights on business performance
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and engage effectively
• Drive the adoption of Power BI across the business, driving forwards an centre of excellence approach, and training users where necessary
• You may be required to undertake any other reasonable duties to support the Catapult in achieving its strategic outcomes and ensure effective business operations
• A track record of working with Microsoft Fabric & Power BI to develop and interpret reports, dashboards and produce visualisations
• Recent experience with modern data & analytics tooling, including Data Lakehouse and Medallion architectures, developing using Notebooks and DevOps release management.
• Knowledge of technical management of information, analysis, and relevant software solutions and coding languages (PySpark & DAX).
• Ability to use data to ‘tell-the-story’ and communicate outcomes in an interesting and compelling way using a variety of formats
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic with an organised, proactive approach
• Strives to drive business improvements to contribute to the success of the business
• Demonstrate a strong customer focus, supporting colleagues across the organisation with the tools and technology they need to deliver effective and collaborative solutions.
