Role description
Location: New York or Salt Lake City (preferred)
Contract: 6-month initial contract term with extension / conversion potential
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship requirements
Ellofant is a modern consulting firm built for those who want to do work that actually moves the needle. We help companies navigate change, complexity, and scale through a blend of strategic thinking, trusted technology, and hands-on execution. Our clients rely on us not just for advice, but for building systems, launching products, and driving outcomes that matter. At Ellofant, we value clarity over jargon, momentum over perfection, and people over process. We’re looking for curious, driven individuals who want to solve real problems with real impact. If you're excited about challenging what’s possible and delivering meaningful change while you're at it, Ellofant might be your next move.
Ellofant is seeking a Business Intelligence Implementation Consultant to support a Fortune 50 client’s Internal Audit leadership team in building a business-driven analytics capability. This role sits squarely on the business side and blends hands-on BI delivery, stakeholder partnership, and strong project execution.
You will lead the design and delivery of a Power BI–based reporting and KPI framework as a tactical, high-impact solution while a long-term enterprise platform is being built by the technology organization. Everything you implement—data models, dashboards, governance standards, and metrics—will directly inform the future-state platform requirements.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity based on performance, ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can manage up, and knows how to turn messy, multi-source data into clear, decision-driving insights.
What You’ll Do
Lead the end-to-end implementation of a Power BI reporting and analytics solution for business leadership
Partner with stakeholder groups to define KPIs, success metrics, and operational dashboards
Design and build Power BI datasets, including fact/dimension models and scalable semantic layers
Develop dashboards and reports that provide clear, actionable insights for business users
Stand up and manage data intake processes from SharePoint Online and other business sources
Define and implement data governance and data quality standards to ensure reliable, trusted reporting
Train business teams on data standards, data maintenance, and ongoing usage of reports and dashboards
Own project execution: planning, dependencies, status reporting, risk management, and proactive escalation
Translate business dashboards and metrics into clear requirements for the future enterprise analytics platform
Collaborate closely with Internal Audit leadership and business stakeholders, bringing strong executive presence and clear communication
Drive quick wins in the first 3–6 months while laying the foundation for long-term platform success
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of relevant experience in business intelligence, analytics, or BI implementation consulting
Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (datasets, data modeling, DAX, reports, dashboards)
Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (fact/dimension tables, star schemas, semantic layers)
Experience setting up and managing data from SharePoint Online and other business data sources
Proven ability to define data quality standards, governance processes, and adoption workflows
Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations
Strong project management skills, with experience working in both Agile and Waterfall environments (and knowing when to use each)
Comfortable managing up, working with business leadership, and operating with executive presence
Ability to operate as both a doer and a leader in a small, high-impact team
Strong communication skills—able to translate between business needs and analytical solutions
Nice to have: SQL, Azure, or experience with modern data stacks and analytics platforms
Nice to have: Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes for managing data pipelines effectively
Why This Role Matters
This role is not just about building dashboards—it’s about helping a business unit learn to run itself through data. The Power BI solution you build will serve as both a decision-making engine today and the blueprint for the enterprise platform of tomorrow. You’ll be shaping how leaders see their operations, measure performance, and make better, faster decisions.
