Job Title: Cognos & Power BI – ETL/BI Developer Location: Greenville, SC- HYBRID – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote Visa: MUST be contract to hire eligible – USC, GC, GC-EAD, L2EAD, H4 EAD (no h1b, no opt, no cpt, no TN) Duration: 12+ months with right to hire Interview: video screen with me, references, and 2 rounds with client (1 virtual, 1 onsite) Job Description: Client is hiring a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer for our client in Greenville, SC. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote each week. Our client is seeking a skilled BI professional to design, develop, and deliver enterprise reporting, dashboards, and analytics solutions. This role will leverage Power BI and IBM Cognos Analytics to provide meaningful insights across Claims, Underwriting, Agency, Finance, and Operations. The ideal candidate combines strong technical BI experience with insurance domain knowledge and can translate complex business requirements into scalable data models and impactful visualizations. Key Responsibilities: Data & Systems Integration: Design and develop reporting solutions using data from policy, claims, billing, agency management systems, and third-party sources Build and maintain reusable semantic and data models to support enterprise analytics Collaborate with business stakeholders and data engineering teams to integrate curated data layers and support ETL/ELT processes BI & Dashboard Development: Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and IBM Cognos Analytics Build executive-level dashboards for senior leadership as well as operational dashboards used across the business Translate business KPIs into structured, scalable data models Implement row-level security and role-based access controls Partner with Claims, Underwriting, and Finance teams to refine and standardize reporting metrics Develop cloud-based BI solutions on Azure, leveraging Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, and Power BI Data Modeling & Performance Optimization: Design and implement star schema data models for reporting and analytics Develop advanced DAX calculations and measures Optimize dashboard and report performance through query tuning and aggregation strategies Support Medallion architecture (Raw → Silver → Gold) data layers Leverage Copilot and other AI tools to support self-service analytics initiatives Data Governance & Quality: Perform data validation and reconciliation against source systems Implement and support data quality checks Support audit and regulatory reporting requirements Document data definitions, transformations, and business logic
