Job Summary:

They are seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to own the core data services and infrastructure for ShipStation Intelligence, focusing on building a scalable data platform that provides critical insights to merchants.
Responsibilities:
β’ Collaborate on technical roadmap for ShipStation's core analytics platform: data pipelines, dashboards, visualizations, reports, KPIs, predictive insights, and the underlying data model in BigQuery/Looker.
β’ Define a compelling platform vision focused on scalability, reliability, data accuracy of complex shipping and business data into simple, actionable insights for merchants.
β’ Partner with engineering leadership and architects to align the platform roadmap with broader technical initiatives and business capabilities.
β’ Partner with internal engineering, product, and data science teams to deeply understand their data requirements, pain points, and use cases.
β’ Use Looker, SQL, and similar tools to analyze usage patterns and shape data-informed product decisions.
β’ Champion ease-of-use and self-service for merchants with varying levels of data literacy.
β’ Accountable for the data quality, privacy, traceability, and security.
β’ Establish mechanisms for monitoring and improving data accuracy, recency, completeness, and consistency.
β’ Author detailed technical specifications, including data schema designs, and non-functional requirements for the engineering teams.
β’ Manage the platform backlog, prioritizing technical debt, infrastructure investments, performance improvements, and new platform capabilities.
β’ Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of platform enhancements, from architectural design through development, release, and post-launch monitoring.
β’ Collaborate deeply across teams and brands to ensure platform quality, scalability, and adoption.
β’ Own and enforce data governance policies and the metrics definition framework, ensuring the platform provides a reliable and trusted "single source of truth".
Qualifications:
Required:
β’ Industry experience with dashboards, self-serve reporting, or embedded analytics features in B2B SaaS.
β’ Experience working with Looker.
β’ Proficiency in analyzing data with SQL or Looker to inform product decisions.
β’ Strong UX instincts and customer-centric mindset for building intuitive and accessible insights.
β’ Excellent communication and storytelling skillsβable to simplify complexity and inspire teams.
Preferred:
β’ Tableau, Power BI, or embedded analytics platforms experience is nice to have.
β’ Ability to prioritize initiatives and understand implications across different personas and the broader portfolio.
β’ Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships β people want to work with you again.
β’ Professional experience with supply chain, eCommerce, shipping carriers, WMS, IMS, 3PL, or dropshipping.
β’ Familiarity with modern data platforms like Snowflake, dbt, and event instrumentation tools.
