Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity for a highly skilled BI professional who can design, develop, and optimize enterprise-level reporting and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Power BI, advanced data modeling, DAX, SQL, and business intelligence best practices, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards.
• Build and manage semantic models, star-schema data models, and advanced DAX measures to support business intelligence initiatives.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to ensure data quality and performance.
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable reporting solutions.
• Create executive-level dashboards with intuitive drill-down capabilities for operational analysis.
• Ensure data accuracy, governance, and consistency across reporting platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve report, dataset, and performance-related issues.
• Promote and support self-service BI capabilities while maintaining data governance standards.
• Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to improve reporting architecture and data accessibility.
Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of Business Intelligence or Analytics experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience in an enterprise environment.
• Expert-level knowledge of Power BI, including:
• DAX
• Power Query (M)
• Data Modeling
• Semantic Models
• Performance Optimization
• Advanced SQL skills with experience writing and tuning complex queries, views, and stored procedures.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and star-schema design.
• Experience working with large-scale datasets and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Proven ability to work directly with business users and executive stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, or Databricks.
• Knowledge of Kimball, Inmon, and Medallion architecture methodologies.
• Experience implementing BI governance and self-service analytics frameworks.
