Business Intelligence Developer - Operations | Location: Houston, TX | Contract We are seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to lead the design and development of Power BI reports and dashboards focused on operational data across core areas such as Collections, Fleet, Post Collections, and Dispatch. This role involves transforming raw data into actionable insights through advanced data modeling, visualization, and data pipeline management within a fast-paced, data-driven environment. Key Responsibilities • Design "Executive Grade" Power BI dashboards that deliver clear, visually compelling insights tailored for senior leadership, emphasizing user experience and UI/UX best practices. • Author advanced DAX measures and utilize Power Query (M) to implement complex business logic and sophisticated data shaping techniques. • Manage the entire report lifecycle from initial prototype and requirements gathering through user acceptance testing (UAT) to final deployment, ensuring accuracy and quality at each stage. • Administer Power BI workspaces, implement Row-Level Security (RLS), and enforce data governance policies to restrict data access to authorized stakeholders. • Lead collaborative sessions with senior leadership across operational areas to define KPIs, translate business needs into technical specifications, and ensure alignment with strategic goals. • Present and demo reports to executive stakeholders, providing insights, storytelling, and actionable recommendations based on data findings. • Utilize Azure DevOps to track development stories, manage backlogs, and maintain transparency into project progress. • Build and optimize end-to-end data pipelines leveraging MS Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse) and Snowflake, supporting both real-time and batch reporting needs. • Design, implement, and maintain high-performance data models (Star Schema) to ensure data integrity and efficient querying. • Perform root-cause analysis on slow-running reports, optimize SQL queries in Snowflake, and refine DAX expressions in Power BI to achieve sub-second response times. Required Qualifications • Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service. • Expert-level SQL skills for complex data transformation, validation, and querying. • Experience with Snowflake, including SnowSQL, partitioning, and warehouse optimization. • Familiarity with MS Fabric environment, including OneLake and Data Factory. • Ability to work on-site in Houston, TX. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Azure DevOps for project management. • Certification in PL-300 (Microsoft Data Analyst) or Snowflake Pro Core. • Prior experience in a client-facing or internal consultancy role. • Familiarity with waste management, logistics, or field operations is a plus.
