β’ DATA/BI Solutions Architect (Level 5/6)
12 months plus scope of 1 more year extension
Remote work (rare visit to office in Oak Ridge, TN, 37831 required - all expenses paid)
Summary/Key Areas:
Looking for a senior, hands-on Data/BI Solutions Architect who can work with executives but also personally architect and build the solution. Must have 10-15+ years of Relevant Experience.
The ideal candidate needs strong experience with data/solution architecture, data warehousing and dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT, Power BI/Tableau, SQL, Python, data pipelines, executive dashboards/KPIs, row-level security, and stakeholder requirements gathering. Dynatrace or similar observability experience is a plus.
Think:
Source Systems β ETL/ELT β Data Warehouse β Data Models β Power BI/Tableau β Executive Dashboards
They do not want a "PowerPoint architect." They want someone who can define the strategy with executives and then get hands-on with the architecture, SQL/Python, pipelines, and dashboards.
Knowledge, Skillset, and Abilities (KSAs) β
β’ Enterprise Architecture & Business Acumen: Ability to translate high-level business goals and complex system metrics into actionable, executive-ready KPIs and visual
strategies.
β’ Data Modeling & Pipeline Orchestration: Advanced knowledge of modeling data (e.g., star schemas, dimensional modeling) tailored specifically for Extract, Load,
Transform (ELT) frameworks within modern data warehouses.
β’ BI & Data Visualization Expertise: Expert-level mastery of visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) with deep knowledge of dashboard UX/UI best practices,
row-level security (RLS), and performance tuning for large datasets.
β’ Hands-on Scripting & Coding Capabilities: Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (such as Python) to develop, debug, and optimize data transformation logic within
the ELT layer.
β’ Requirements Gathering & Facilitation: Proven ability to lead cross-functional discovery sessions, facilitate discussions with engineering, IT, and executive stakeholders,
and reconcile technical limitations with business desires.
Specific Requirements β
β’ Stakeholder Consultation & Discovery: Facilitate workshops with system engineers, database administrators, and business stakeholders to identify key system metrics,
pain points, data sources, and desired dashboard business outcomes.
β’ Architecture & Design: Design the end-to-end data flow architectureβfrom the source system metrics, through the ETL pipeline, to the data warehouse, and finally to
the visualization layer (Power BI/Tableau and Enterprise level tools like Dynatrace, etc..).
β’ ETL Development & Scripting: Perform hands-on scripting, database engineering, and SQL optimization to clean, aggregate, and structure system metrics into highly
performance-optimized schemas.
β’ Dashboard Development: Build, publish, and maintain interactive dashboards that track system health, operational performance, and enterprise-aligned metrics.
β’ Security & Access Control: Implement proper data access controls, authentication standards, and row-level security profiles to ensure that metrics are visible only to
authorized personnel.
β’ Tool Selection Support: Lead the evaluation, trade-off analysis, and recommendation of the optimal Business Intelligence tools (e.g., comparing Power BI vs. Tableau vs
tools like Dynatrace for the specific organization environment).
