Business Process & Governance Engineer
Location: Hybrid at Atlanta
Position Overview
We are seeking a Business Process & Governance Engineer to support and strengthen governance capabilities across Data Governance, Information Governance, and AI Governance initiatives. This role will work with stakeholders across business and technology teams to develop governance frameworks, processes, documentation, and tools that drive organizational adoption and compliance.
The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, and capable of transforming evolving business needs into scalable governance solutions with minimal oversight.

The organization is expanding its governance function across multiple programs that vary in maturity—some are well established and undergoing continuous improvement, while others are being developed from the ground up.
This position offers the opportunity to:
• Enhance and mature existing governance programs.
• Help define and build new governance capabilities.
• Work across Data, Information, and AI Governance initiatives as priorities evolve.
• Drive practical and sustainable governance practices throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and implement governance processes, workflows, standards, and documentation.
• Support governance initiatives across programs at various levels of maturity.
• Translate business requirements into practical frameworks, operating procedures, tools, and training materials.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across business, technology, privacy, security, and compliance functions.
• Facilitate governance adoption through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Identify gaps, recommend improvements, and execute solutions independently.
• Adapt to shifting priorities and support multiple governance initiatives as organizational needs evolve.
• Create and maintain process documentation, user guides, governance artifacts, and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong ability to interpret governance, policy, compliance, or regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable processes and documentation.
• Experience creating business processes, workflows, governance frameworks, and procedural documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments and establish structure where none exists.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-oriented with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working within higher education or other complex, decentralized organizations.
• Exposure to governance, compliance, risk management, data governance, information governance, or AI governance initiatives.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across business and technology domains.
Education & Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred (field of study flexible).
• Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Typically requires 5–8 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
