Role description
Project Summary / Role Overview
We are seeking a C#/.NET developer for a contract-to-hire role. This developer will work alongside a current resource that will eventually roll-off. The intention is for this new developer to ultimately replace a highly autonomous position, requiring the ability to operate with minimal oversight.
The initial assignment is to upgrade three existing C# applications from .NET Framework 4.6.2 to .NET 11, following modern architecture principles and best practices. This is a rare opportunity to refactor foundational systems, so quality, maintainability, and performance are critical. Until the new code is fully transitioned, this developer (together with the existing resource) will also address bug fixes in the legacy codebase from time-to-time.
The developer should be a strong advocate for unit testing, code quality, GitHub, and Azure App Services deployment. Additionally, they will co-lead in Cosmos DB environment synchronization and Cosmos database migration.
Technical Requirements (Not to be taken strictly but as guidance)
Must-Have
β’ C# / .NET Development: 5+ years of professional experience
β’ Azure Cosmos DB: 2-3+ years, including multi-tenant management and environment synchronization
β’ Application modernization: Experience upgrading legacy .NET Framework applications to .NET Core / .NET 6+
β’ Unit testing frameworks such as: xUnit, NUnit, MSTest
β’ Source control: GitHub, branching, and PR strategies
β’ Azure Services: App Services, Cosmos
Preferred
β’ Architecture design and refactoring experience
β’ Experience with CI/CD automation, code linting, and static analysis tools
β’ Experience with SQL / NoSQL data modeling, performance tuning, and migrations
β’ Knowledge of cloud security best practices
Education
β’ Degree is not required, but proven professional experience is mandatory
Additional Notes
β’ In addition to not requiring a lot of oversight and direction, the developer should be able to create user stories, troubleshoot independently, and provide architecture recommendations.
β’ Emphasis on clean, maintainable code and documentation for long-term sustainability.
β’ Initial focus is on modernization, but the candidate should also be capable of handling ongoing enhancements post-upgrade.
