Join Aspen's respected Capital modelling division in London, where you will support the design, delivery, and enhancement of the Economic Capital Model (ECM) used across the group for regulatory and business planning purposes. What you'll do: As a Senior Capital Modelling Analyst at Aspen in London, you will immerse yourself in all aspects of economic capital modelling within a dynamic insurance environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating closely with colleagues across multiple departments to ensure that capital assessments are delivered accurately and on time for both regulatory submissions and internal business planning. • Support the production of ECM deliverables for various regulatory entities including the PRA, Lloyd's of London, BMA, and rating agencies by ensuring timely and accurate capital calculations. • Assist with entity-level business planning and reforecasting processes by preparing capital assessments and associated exhibits, providing clear explanations of movements from both technical and practical perspectives. • Ensure compliance with operational control processes related to the ECM as well as internal model policies such as model change documentation, proactively identifying areas for process improvement. • Prepare required materials for model change analysis and facilitate approval processes through relevant Aspen committees by responding thoughtfully to review and challenge. • Communicate capital model results effectively to key stakeholders across Aspen, explaining changes arising from risk profile shifts or updates to methodologies, assumptions, or parameters. • Coordinate data feeds, analysis, and information processing for selected risk categories to ensure high-quality inputs into the ECM while managing timetable constraints collaboratively with other teams. • Produce detailed analysis and commentary to support risk reporting requirements for Aspen's committees, boards, and other stakeholders across the group. • Contribute to modelling activities for additional risk categories as needed by processing data feeds, analysing outputs, preparing commentary, and supporting regulatory reporting obligations. • Assist in developing methodologies, updating model coding (such as VBA or SQL), conducting parameter reviews, and performing exposure analysis to maintain the robustness of the ECM. • Complete elements of production control dashboards in line with Aspen's Operational Control Framework requirements while supporting successful implementation of agreed model developments. What you bring: To excel as a Senior Capital Modelling Analyst at Aspen, your background should reflect solid academic achievement in a numerically focused subject coupled with practical experience applying quantitative methods within an insurance context. Your familiarity with capital modelling frameworks-especially those aligned with Solvency II-and your comfort using specialist software like Tyche or Igloo will enable you to contribute meaningfully from day one. • Demonstrated understanding of core insurance concepts combined with hands-on experience in capital modelling techniques • Familiarity with industry-standard capital modelling software such as Tyche or Igloo is highly desirable; experience with programming languages like VBA or SQL would be advantageous. • Excellent oral and written communication skills enabling you to explain complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Proficiency in standard office software tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for effective data analysis and presentation preparation. • A strong analytical mindset with proven ability to handle quantitative concepts confidently while adopting a problem-solving approach that seeks out process improvements. • A proactive attitude towards enhancing existing controls and challenging established practices constructively within a collaborative team setting. • Progress towards actuarial qualification (part-qualified or student actuary) with evidence of good progress through actuarial examinations is expected. • Ideally prior experience gained within non-life insurance actuarial roles-either at a consultancy or within a London Market organisation-would be beneficial.
