Role description
At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives.
Fixed Term Contract (for 6 months)
This role involves supporting the Service Development Manager within Social Care to better understand the way that data is input into the case management system used by the Local Authority and lead on improving data quality and embedding best practice. This role has been funded by the Department for Education, as part of a successful bid by the local authority to be involved in the . It is a 6-month, fixed term post, with potential for this to be extended, subject to future need/funding agreement.
This role would suit someone with experience of Children’s Social Care case management systems.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience Required
• Educated to A level or equivalent
• Knowledge of the work and processes of the work undertaken in the department/service areas
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Power BI) and the ability to draw analysis and reports
• Advanced knowledge of the processes and knowledge of the regulations relating to the use of data in children’s social care, including data protection
• Excellent knowledge of systems/software relevant to specific service area and experience of explaining system processes to a non-expert audience
• Ability to work independently within a department or business unit, planning ahead for upgrades and developments, and responding to requests for support
Accountabilities
• Provide specialist knowledge of data/systems/databases, giving guidance, advice and support to colleagues and partners so that they can use and exploit the resources available and help to tailor reports or analysis to their specific business need.
• Identify and implement data quality and data capture improvement tasks to ensure system data is of high quality and to create more effective ways of working.
• With the Application Support Lead in IT, proactively offer advice and training to data and system users, so that staff are competent in using data systems and processes, and good data governance is present and practised in the department. Does this feel.
• Build relationships and consult with teams in the Council that are system and data users to provide advice, promote the uses of the data systems, and to resolve issues, so that data and related systems are used to enhance and support service provision.
• Report directly to the Service Development Manager, and work closely with colleagues in Business Intelligence and IT.
