Role description
Description On-site Every Other Week onsite / 5 days in Westlake, TX Our client seeks a Cloud Database Engineer to design, implement, and operate scalable, resilient, and secure database platforms supporting operational and analytical workloads. The role will manage cloud-native and managed services across AWS, including Oracle RDS, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB, with collaboration across application, data engineering, and platform teams. The engineer will drive automation, reliability, performance, security, and disaster recovery for enterprise database environments. Snowflake experience is beneficial but not required. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Rate: $63.00 to $68.00/hr. w2 Responsibilities • Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based database solutions across AWS platforms to ensure availability, performance, and scalability. • Provide operational support for Oracle RDS, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB including tuning, capacity planning, and incident management. • Implement and manage replication and migration using AWS DMS and Oracle GoldenGate for reliable data movement and modernization. • Collaborate with data platform teams to support Snowflake environments and analytics workloads. • Partner with application teams, data engineers, and platform services to onboard and optimize database usage patterns. • Implement automation for provisioning, monitoring, patching, and failover using infrastructure-as-code and scripting. • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and data protection standards. • Drive continuous improvement in reliability, resiliency, and cost optimization. • Support disaster recovery strategies, cross-region replication, and high-availability architecture. Experience Requirements • 6 to 8+ years administering Oracle 12c and 19c. • 3 to 5 years in enterprise cloud database initiatives. • Strong experience with AWS database services including RDS Oracle, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB. • Hands-on experience with AWS DMS and Oracle GoldenGate. • Enterprise experience with cloud database architecture, operations, and performance tuning. • Familiarity with Snowflake is a plus. • Automation with tools such as Terraform and Python and experience with CI/CD pipelines. • Strong understanding of database internals, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting. • Experience with multi-region architectures, disaster recovery, and production support. • Solid communication and collaboration skills.
