JOB SUMMARY FOR A CLOUD ENGINEER:
Seeking a Cloud Engineer to support Caterpillar’s AI Engineering team in deploying and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure for enterprise-grade AI applications. This role involves working with AWS and Azure services, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and collaborating with engineering teams to scale Generative AI solutions across the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR A CLOUD ENGINEER:
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud applications using AWS and Azure.
• Develop infrastructure as code using CloudFormation and Azure Resource Manager templates.
• Create and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Code Pipeline.
• Support deployment of AI applications and services in cloud environments.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate cloud infrastructure with application development.
• Ensure security, scalability, and reliability of cloud solutions.
• Participate in team discussions and provide cloud expertise to support execution.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR A CLOUD ENGINEER:
• 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering or related roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with AWS managed services (EC2, RDS, SNS, SQS, FSx, S3).
• Knowledge of AWS Networking, VPC, and Cyber Security.
• Working knowledge of single-page web applications.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Machines, App Services, Container Instances, AKS, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps.
• CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CLOUD ENGINEER:
Technical Skills:
• Microsoft Service Fabric / MS SQL
• End-to-end experience with enterprise application architecture
• Familiarity with ARM file syntax
• Understanding of access control, credentialing, and security concepts
• Experience with both AWS and Azure preferred, but open to candidates with expertise in one
• Azure Functions and Logic Apps for serverless architecture
• Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines and release management
Soft Skills:
• Strong communication skills to convey technical details to engineering teams
• Self-managing with excellent time management
• Ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborative mindset in a small, focused team
• Adaptability in a fast-evolving AI environment
