Role description
Location: Remote with one day per week onsite at MassDOT HQ β 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA
Contract Expectations: Long-term contract opportunity supporting Massachusettsβ cloud modernization efforts with potential for extension.
Summary: As a Senior Cloud Engineer at MassDOT, you will be responsible for supporting and modernizing hybrid cloud infrastructure across AWS and on-prem environments. Youβll contribute to mission-critical systems used by millions of residents, working on automation, containerization, and cloud-native architecture. We are hiring two engineers with complementary skillsets: one focused on Infrastructure & Automation, and the other on Support & Operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
β’ 7+ years of enterprise IT experience with architecture and engineering focus
β’ Hands-on experience with AWS in enterprise or government settings
β’ Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/Amazon Linux)
β’ Strong skills in Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions
β’ Experience with container services (ECS, Fargate, EKS) and hybrid storage (NetApp, FSx)
β’ Nice to have: Familiarity with Generative AI, LLMs, and RAG patterns
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Automation Role:
β’ Build and manage hybrid AWS/on-prem environments
β’ Develop CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code
β’ Integrate container services and automate deployments
β’ Collaborate on architecture and modernization initiatives
Support & Operations Role:
β’ Monitor and troubleshoot hybrid cloud systems
β’ Maintain Windows/Linux servers and enforce governance policies
β’ Resolve infrastructure issues and ensure uptime
β’ Support tagging, security, and operational standards
