Cloud Engineer (Azure)
Location: Brookfield, WI (Hybrid β 3 days onsite per week)
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Overview
A leading organization in the financial services and banking sector is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join their team during a critical cloud migration initiative. The engineer will collaborate closely with a Cloud Architect to implement an approved Azure architecture and support the transition of on-prem applicationsβboth in-house developed and vendor-basedβto the cloud environment.
This position offers an opportunity to work across multiple teams and systems, helping shape the infrastructure that powers enterprise-level applications in a secure, scalable, and efficient way.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Deploy, configure, and manage Azure infrastructure following established architectural frameworks.
β’ Partner with architects, developers, and system owners to migrate applications from on-prem to cloud platforms.
β’ Utilize Terraform and Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment.
β’ Maintain infrastructure reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
β’ Implement and support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD best practices.
β’ Proactively troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
β’ Document configurations, processes, and standards for operational excellence.
Required Skills & Experience
β’ 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering or Infrastructure roles.
β’ Strong technical expertise with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, networking, and identity management).
β’ Hands-on proficiency with Terraform and Ansible for automation and IaC.
β’ Demonstrated experience supporting cloud migration projects.
β’ Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work across diverse technical teams.
β’ Curious, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, or AZ-400).
β’ Familiarity with hybrid environments and vendor-managed software.
β’ Understanding of DevOps tools and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
