Duration: 12 months
Location: Virtual acceptable, but must be based in Charlotte, NC
Pay: $58 - 62/hr W2 ONLY, NO C2C

1. AWS + Terraform hands-on experience
1. Cloud platform experience including AWS networking, infrastructure management, automation, GoLang programming, and understanding of cybersecurity best practices
Job Description
Employees at this level work under general supervision and are expected to grow their skills and independence. The Cloud Engineer I has foundational knowledge of cloud technologies, scripting, and platform operations. This role provides Level 1 support and troubleshooting for cloud platforms and performs routine operational and maintenance tasks related to cloud environments. The engineer will also support platform automation and basic scripting to enable reliability and efficiency across cloud services.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop software platforms and frameworks, including platform automation and establishing upgrade/change cadences.
• Maintain services, monitor system health, and identify opportunities for performance and reliability improvements.
• Scale systems sustainably using automation and continuous deployment principles.
• Research and apply best-practice design principles to improve reliability, security, and delivery speed.
• Work within an Agile environment and participate in XP practices, including test-driven development.
• Assist product teams with troubleshooting platform issues and routine maintenance tasks.
• Review platform health checks and escalate issues as necessary.
• Assist with platform updates, patching, and backups.
• Provide Level 1 support for cloud platform user issues and onboarding.
• Write basic scripts (Python preferred) to support automation and workflow improvements.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, developers, designers, and product owners.
• Diagnose and resolve software problems, including customer-reported issues, and support enhancements.
Education
• Associate Degree required
• Or: 1 year of equivalent work-related experience in cloud engineering or server administration in lieu of degree
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
• Linux and Windows systems
• Active Directory
• Infrastructure as Code
• Networking and data center infrastructure
• Cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure a plus)
• Platform as a Service
• Scripting languages such as BASH, Go, Python, PowerShell
• Containers and microservices
• IAM roles, Sentinel policies, Terraform Enterprise, Vault, Apigee Hybrid
• AWS or Terraform certifications
