Cloud Engineer

This position is ONSITE in Des Moines, IA. No C2C at this time. Software Engineer – Cloud, Data & Analytics (AWS) Are you a software engineer who loves solving complex problems and building scalable solutions that actually matter? We’re partnering with a large, highly respected financial services organization to add a Software Engineer to a team that designs, builds, and supports an enterprise-wide financial data and modeling ecosystem used by actuarial and finance leaders across the business. This team builds modern solutions in the AWS cloud, integrates with enterprise-grade systems, and operates in a highly collaborative Agile and DevOps environment. What You’ll Be Working On • Design and implement reliable, scalable data pipelines, web applications, and analytics solutions in AWS • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that deploy software, data, and infrastructure across environments • Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems into refined, consumable data products • Partner directly with finance and actuarial stakeholders to architect solutions that meet business and technical requirements • Experiment with new technologies and practices to solve complex problems creatively • Collaborate with highly skilled, product-focused engineers across a global community • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical platforms • Pursue technology certifications aligned with your career growth Technical Skills & Experience (Preferred) • Experience with AWS services such as CDK, Lambda, DynamoDB, Glue, and S3 • Ability to write SQL queries and interpret data models • Exposure to full-stack web development using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Next.js • Experience with version control and automation using Git and GitHub Actions • Familiarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and test-driven development • Experience working with relational and NoSQL data stores What Makes You Successful in This Role • Strong passion for engineering and problem solving • Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and highly collaborative environment • Curiosity and initiative to learn new technologies independently • Willingness to challenge the status quo and bring forward new ideas • Strong time management, attention to detail, and respect for confidentiality • Ability to collaborate across IT and non-IT teams Qualifications • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Math, or a related field, or equivalent experience • Ability or interest in obtaining IT-related certifications • Exposure to insurance or financial services is a plus, but not required Why This Opportunity Stands Out • Work on mission-critical financial platforms with enterprise-level impact • Modern, cloud-native technology stack with a strong DevOps culture • Supportive team environment focused on learning, growth, and innovation • Long-term stability combined with exposure to evolving technologies
