⚡ Job Information
We’re looking for a highly experienced Cloud Engineer who can design, modernize, and maintain mission-critical cloud infrastructure across secure public sector environments. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in AWS, understands cloud automation at scale, and can support both infrastructure and data workloads with precision.
You’ll lead engineering of automated, fault-tolerant, and scalable cloud environments; support modernization and migration initiatives; collaborate across platform, security, and data teams; and ensure that every solution is well-architected, secure, and compliant. If you enjoy building cloud systems that are resilient, cost-efficient, and engineered for long-term sustainability, this position will fit you exceptionally well.
🧩 What You’ll Do
• Engineer scalable AWS environments
Design, deploy, and maintain secure, automated, and highly available cloud platforms across standard and GovCloud regions.
• Lead cloud migration initiatives
Execute rehost, replatform, refactor, and modernization activities for infrastructure and application workloads moving to AWS.
• Develop automation and IaC
Build Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible templates and automation pipelines to streamline provisioning and configuration.
• Support data platforms and pipelines
Manage cloud databases, optimize storage, support ETL workflows, and enable high-performance analytics environments.
• Optimize cloud costs and performance
Monitor resource utilization, implement cost-savings strategies, and tune infrastructure for scale and efficiency.
• Strengthen cloud security and compliance
Work with security teams to enforce access controls, encryption, monitoring, and accreditation-aligned best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud issues
Investigate incidents, resolve performance issues, and minimize service disruptions across multi-environment workloads.
• Collaborate across engineering and data teams
Partner on architectural design, storage strategies, analytics requirements, and cross-functional modernization projects.
• Document systems thoroughly
Maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, standards, and configuration details to support governance and audit readiness.
• Stay current on cloud technologies
Evaluate new services, patterns, tools, and enhancements to continuously evolve cloud strategy and operations.
💡 What You Bring
• Active clearance required
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 10+ years of experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure
• Deep expertise with AWS (Azure/GCP familiarity a plus)
• Professional AWS certifications: Solutions Architect, DevOps, or Specialty
• Strong scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Experience with IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible
• Familiarity with log and monitoring tools (Splunk preferred)
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong networking knowledge: VPCs, subnets, load balancers, DNS, routing
• Solid understanding of cloud security: IAM, encryption, policies, detection
• Hands-on experience with data management: ETL, SQL tuning, integration flows
• Familiarity with relational + NoSQL DBs (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, etc.)
• Understanding of data lakes, warehouses, analytics platforms
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and data issues
• Strong communication skills and ability to support cross-functional teams
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Ability to support multiple clients in parallel
• Must be able to work Eastern Time Zone hours
