Freddie Mac is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Database Engineer with deep expertise in AWS Aurora Postgres to join their team onsite in McLean, VA.
This role is ideal for a hands-on database automation developer who thrives in a fast-paced, cloud-native environment and is passionate about building scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based database systems to support business needs
Lead database automation efforts including provisioning, configuration, and deployment
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using CloudFormation (CFT), Terraform, and AWS Lambda
Perform database testing, backup/restore, and security configuration
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless database integration and performance
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in a cloud environment
Must-Have Qualifications
5–7+ years of hands-on experience with AWS Aurora Postgres
3+ years of experience in cloud database automation development (CFT, Lambda, Terraform)
Strong understanding of AWS services, including VPC, CloudFormation, and Lambda
Experience with database testing, backup/restore, and security best practices
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with Neptune, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, or Mongo Atlas
Experience with AWS DMS or other data migration tools
Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
