Position: Senior Systems Engineer (Cloud FinOps)

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in Cloud FinOps, cloud infrastructure, automation, and cost optimization. In this role, you will design and implement scalable cloud financial management solutions that improve cost visibility, optimize cloud spending, and drive financial accountability across cloud environments.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, finance, product, architecture, security, procurement, and AI/ML teams to build automation, reporting, forecasting, and governance capabilities that align cloud investments with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement cloud cost optimization and FinOps solutions.
• Develop automation for cloud tagging compliance, budgeting, anomaly detection, and cost reporting.
• Monitor cloud usage, resource utilization, and spending patterns to identify optimization opportunities.
• Build forecasting models and financial dashboards to improve cloud cost transparency.
• Implement governance for cloud, AI/ML, and containerized workloads, including cost allocation, budgeting, and usage tracking.
• Develop automated tools to detect cost trends, anomalies, and optimization recommendations.
• Partner with engineering and finance teams to align cloud consumption with business goals.
• Provide technical leadership for cloud financial management initiatives.
• Analyze existing cloud environments and recommend improvements.
• Support capacity planning and future-state cloud infrastructure strategies.
• Create executive-level reports and presentations on cloud utilization, financial performance, and optimization initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in Information Technology with strong cloud engineering expertise.
• Hands-on experience with one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Alibaba Cloud.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• 3+ years of experience implementing Cloud FinOps or cloud cost optimization strategies.
• Experience with cloud cost monitoring, forecasting, budgeting, and governance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with AI/ML or Generative AI platforms and their cost optimization strategies.
• Familiarity with cloud financial reporting, chargeback/showback models, and unit economics.
• Experience with container platforms and cloud-native services.
• Knowledge of data platforms and cloud analytics solutions.
• Experience presenting technical and financial insights to executive leadership.
