Overview
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Program is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG) with building, deploying, and maintaining secure and scalable cloud infrastructure. This position will contribute directly to the implementation of resilient Azure-based environments, working closely with cloud architects, cybersecurity personnel, and mission teams to operationalize modern infrastructure components aligned with USCG objectives.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of infrastructure components across both Azure and AWS environments.
β’ Ensure cloud infrastructure across both platforms adheres to USCG security standards and high availability requirements.
β’ Deploy and manage Azure cloud infrastructure services including compute, networking, storage, and identity components.
β’ Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
β’ Support patching, configuration management, and system hardening for cloud-hosted workloads.
β’ Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure alignment with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and DoD Impact Level (IL) controls.
β’ Participate in the integration of on-prem and hybrid resources, including VPN gateways, ExpressRoute, and Azure AD Connect.
β’ Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement remediation plans.
β’ Assist in the automation of deployment pipelines and system provisioning using CI/CD tools.
β’ Maintain cloud documentation and diagrams to reflect the current system state and ATO compliance requirements.
β’ Implement logging, alerting, and monitoring solutions using Azure Monitor and Microsoft Sentinel.
Required Qualifications
β’ Experience managing workloads in hybrid or multi-cloud environments including Azure and AWS.
β’ 5+ years of hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure in Azure environments.
β’ Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM.
β’ Strong understanding of cloud networking, resource groups, role-based access control (RBAC), and Azure Policy.
β’ Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP.
β’ Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or CLI) for cloud automation tasks.
β’ Experience collaborating with security, network, and operations teams in federal environments.

β’ Familiarity with AWS services such as VPC, EC2, IAM, S3, and CloudFormation.
β’ AWS certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, IT, or related technical field.
β’ Azure certifications such as AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), AZ-500 (Security Engineer), or AZ-700 (Network Engineer).
β’ Experience supporting IL2/IL4/IL5 cloud environments.
β’ Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server in cloud deployments.
β’ Exposure to containerization and Kubernetes services in Azure.
