Job Title: Cobol Lead Location: Lincoln, NE (Onsite – Local candidates preferred) Type: Contract-C2C/W2 any Profiles Needed: senior leads (15+ years experience) 🛠️ Job Description Role Overview We are seeking Cobol Leads with 15+ years of experience to join our team in Lincoln, NE. The ideal candidates will have strong expertise in COBOL and JCL, with proven leadership in mainframe development, secure coding practices, and architectural problem‑solving. This is a senior role requiring excellent communication skills, analytical ability, and motivation to deliver best‑in‑class results. Key Responsibilities • Lead development and maintenance of mainframe applications using COBOL and JCL • Apply software design patterns, data modeling, and SOLID principles to build scalable solutions • Support Test Driven Development (TDD) and automated functional testing initiatives • Ensure adherence to secure coding practices and remediation of vulnerabilities • Use source management tools (Git, TFS) for version control and collaboration • Resolve architectural challenges including scalability, performance, reliability, usability, and security • Collaborate in Agile teams, participating in Jira/Confluence workflows • Contribute to DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and containerization • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers • Engage with financial industry projects where applicable Required Skills & Experience • 15+ years of professional software development experience • Strong expertise in COBOL and JCL • Knowledge of software design patterns, SOLID principles, and data modeling • Experience with secure coding practices and remediation tools • Familiarity with Git, TFS for source control • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Agile methodology, Jira, Confluence • Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization) • Financial industry experience or interest
