COGNOS DEVELOPERRemote Required Skills: Develop a Next Generation Student Information System (NGSIS) to modernize DOE’s legacy student information systems and data applications. Build a single online interface that presents school users and parents with biographical, academic, and programmatic data for students. Consolidate all data workflows in the systems that currently hold student information. Establish new workflows to help school administrators and teachers manage student record-keeping and other school-based academic tasks. Decommission legacy systems as functions are successfully deployed within the new environment Maintain the highest standards for data security when information accessed through the browser and when information is stored to the database. Provide a configurable system that allows authorized users to update important aspects of the implemented solution i.e. manage lookups, workflow, rules, role-based access levels, etc. Role and Responsibilities: Design, Develop and Maintain Cognos reports and dashboards to meet business requirements Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and define reporting needs Design and implement data models and frameworks to support reporting solutions Optimize existing reports for performance and usability Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to Cognos reporting and data extraction Ensure data integrity and accuracy by performing data validation and quality checks Create and maintain technical documentation related to Cognos development and architecture Write efficient SQL queries to support application development and reporting needs Experience designing, writing, and optimizing stored procedures Skill Sets: Required BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field Should have 8 to 10 years of experience as a Cognos Developer Strong knowledge of IBM Cognos Analytics, including Framework Manager, Report Studio, and Dashboard development Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) Strong proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and views SQL Server, T-SQL, query optimization tools and techniques, data modelling techniques, and relational database design Various database development technologies, such as SQL Server, SQL Replication, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Warehouse, including SSMS, SSRS, SSIS / or ETL tools, and OLTP/OLAP features Nice to Have New York city area (NYC, New Jersey, Conn) Government experience (Federal, state, city) Education experience – building applications for higher ed or department of education PruTech abides by the requirements of 41 CFR 60-1.4(a), 60-300.5(a), and 60-741.5(a).
