Title: Cognos TM1 Developer
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 12 months (with potential to extend)
Note: Must have recent experience working with a large bank
Objective
To ensure production continuity and support ongoing Cognos BI and TM1 development and maintenance, the team is onboarding an experienced contractor. The immediate focus is on production support, with a long-term vision of transitioning to a modern platform (e.g., IBM Cloud or Power BI).
Required Skill Set:
Cognos & TM1 Expertise:
• Strong experience with Cognos Analytics 11.x tools:
• Event Studio, Analysis Studio, Query Studio, Explorations, Jobs, Dashboards, Stories, Data Modules, Data Sets
• PowerPlay Transformer and PowerPlay Cubes
• Framework Manager model development and maintenance
• Cognos security administration
• Proficiency with Cognos Planning Analytics / TM1, including:
• TM1 Architect or Perspectives
• Data modeling and cube development
Additional Technical Skills:
• Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Business Objects, Power BI, SAS, Python, DataStage)
• BI report visualizations and dashboard development
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases
• Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and best practices
• Strong grasp of multidimensional cubes and OLAP reporting
Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and troubleshooting abilities
• Capable of working independently under pressure
• Quick learner with adaptability to new technologies
• Skilled in requirements gathering and user training
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization of Cognos reports
Scope of Work
• Provide daily, monthly, and quarterly Cognos report support
• Address ongoing reporting and planning requests from business and technology teams
• Conduct business analysis tasks, including requirements gathering
• Develop and maintain proof-of-concept reporting solutions
• Assist with transition planning to future BI platforms
• Design, develop, and deploy multi-dimensional reports using Cognos Analytics
• Troubleshoot and enhance existing Cognos reports
• Analyze data using SQL and TM1 tools
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and model reporting solutions
• Manage and maintain Cognos PowerPlay models and cubes
• Partner with Cognos BI and TM1 teams on large-scale projects
Candidate Requirements
• 10 years of relevant experience preferred
• Proven expertise in multi-dimensional data modeling / OLAP cubes
• Ability to work independently and ramp up quickly
• Demonstrated success in Cognos TM1 / Planning Analytics development
