RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Computer Design Engineer in Oak Harbor, OH. This is a full-time contract assignment with our client. The position offers a competitive compensation package, including benefits, vacation, and holidays.
Overview of YOUR role as a Computer Design Engineer
As a Computer Design Engineer, you will provide technical support on a Security Computer System Project within a nuclear power facility. This position involves the design, modification, and implementation of computer-based systems that enhance plant security, monitoring, and control capabilities. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineering experts in mechanical, electrical/I&C, civil/structural, fire protection, and cybersecurity to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions. Your work will ensure secure operations, improve performance, and support the generation of safe, carbon-free electricity.
As a Computer Design Engineer YOU will:
· Develop, evaluate, and implement computer system design changes in accordance with nuclear design control processes and project-specific security requirements.
· Support security computer and network modifications, including hardware, software, and interface integration.
· Conduct design reviews, calculations, and system impact assessments to ensure safe and compliant implementation.
· Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including modification packages, drawings, and technical evaluations.
· Collaborate with engineering, IT, operations, and cybersecurity teams to ensure all system upgrades meet functional and regulatory standards.
· Ensure compliance with 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR50.59, and site-specific QA/QC procedures.
· Provide technical oversight and support during testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
YOU are the ideal Computer Design Engineer candidate if you have:
· Active or recent nuclear plant design qualifications, including site-specific or standard design process qualifications.
· Experience supporting security computer systems or digital control system modifications in a nuclear or power generation environment.
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
· Knowledge of engineering design control, configuration management, and nuclear quality assurance standards.
· Strong technical, analytical, and documentation skills with attention to precision and compliance.
It’s a BONUS if you have:
· Prior experience with cybersecurity integration, digital upgrades, or plant computer modernization projects.
· Familiarity with 10CFR50.59 / 10CFR72.48 evaluations, system performance analysis, or specialty mechanical or structural analyses.
· Previous work with nuclear utility or fleet operators such as USA, STARS, Constellation, or Entergy.
· Background in engineering consulting, mentoring, or training in power generation or nuclear design environments.
