Job Summary:
Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Computer Scientist to join their team in partnership with the Defense Intelligence Agency. This role focuses on delivering cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities to enhance intelligence analysis and support rapid decision-making in defense operations.
Responsibilities:
• Employ computer science principles, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, network science, probability modeling, data mining, data engineering, data warehousing, data compression, and data protection, to design and develop automated or computer-assisted prototypes and software. You'll work to derive insights and correlate complex findings into clear graphical, written, and verbal narratives for intelligence analysis.
• Develop and utilize machine learning and data mining algorithms, including those based on open-source capabilities (like MIMOSA prediction algorithms). You'll integrate these code algorithms to support government intelligence search and discovery missions, making best practice recommendations for data management within hardware, software, storage, and bandwidth constraints.
• Apply data science techniques to support predictive analysis, social media and crowdsourced data analytics, wargaming, and strategy development. You'll also leverage exploratory analysis and rapid iteration techniques on large volumes of data to quickly derive intelligence and automate data exploitation processes.
• Review and evaluate OBI documentation from data and advanced analytics (AA) owners, ensuring compliance with tradecraft standards and best practices for system development and deployment. You'll assess documentation for completeness and accuracy, providing detailed feedback, and assist in maintaining an OBI documentation repository.
• Collaborate on identifying and implementing practices for responsible AI development, covering areas like bias detection, hallucination recognition, prompt fairness testing, and adherence to analytic tradecraft standards and security policies. You'll also provide consultation on OBI governance and knowledge modeling.
• Partner on developing and refining semantic data retrieval and reasoning across knowledge graphs by optimizing data queries using multiple protocols (e.g., GraphQL, SPARQL, SHACL, SQL).
• Collaborate on exploratory efforts using novel technologies (e.g., Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning) to automate ontologies for semantic accuracy and interoperability, and to support/automate entity recognition, extraction, and summarization in line with analytic tradecraft standards.
• Design and execute TEVV protocols to evaluate the performance, robustness, and fairness of AI systems in all-source analysis contexts. You'll apply statistical models to analyze TEVV results, identify improvements, and develop corrective actions.
• Identify and prioritize AI system improvements, implement updates, and conduct technical assessments to ensure compliant use of AI systems for approved use-cases. You'll also develop and maintain a repository of audit findings and recommendations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for development expertise, streamlining repetitive processes, integrating disparate datasets, and maintaining internal tools for analytic production. You'll advise on advancing DIA's analytic edge by creating minimum viable products (MVPs) that standardize and export tradecraft, documenting MVPs for enterprise scaling.
• Work with increasingly large and complex data, standing up distributed clusters for advanced analytics. You'll create algorithms to clean, process, analyze, and visualize data. Proficiency in Python, HTML, SQL, JavaScript, and maintaining source code using Git in government-owned/controlled source version control repositories is essential.
• Create, edit, and disseminate capability update briefs, collaborate with other vendors and developers, and research/design technical solutions for automation, machine augmentation, and tradecraft compliance. You'll deliver technical capabilities that enhance analysts' ability to interrogate increasingly large and complex datasets.
• Additional duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 0 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience
• Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI with a current Poly
• Experience with Python, HTML, SQL, and JavaScript.
• In-depth experience with Git for source code management in a collaborative environment.
• Proven ability to apply and implement machine learning and data mining algorithms for predictive analysis, entity recognition, extraction, and summarization.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets, including data cleaning, processing, analysis, and visualization.
• Experience creating and working with distributed clusters for advanced analytics.
• Understanding of data engineering concepts, including data warehousing, data compression, and data protection.
• Experience developing and maintaining APIs (e.g., GraphQL) for data access.
• Ability to apply mathematical, statistical, and scientific techniques to correlate complex findings and derive intelligence from large volumes of data.
• Experience with exploratory analysis and rapid iteration techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement automated or computer-assisted prototypes and software.
• Experience in designing technical solutions that deliver automation, machine augmentation, and tradecraft compliance capabilities.
• Ability to prepare products that describe and document findings and activities.
• Ability to review, evaluate, and provide detailed feedback on technical documentation.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and with minimal oversight.
Preferred:
• Bachelors with 3 years of experience
• Recent applicable experience within the last 2 years
• Possess or be able to obtain and maintain DoD 8570 or DoD 8140 compliance certificates/tickets
