• Job Title: Connex Developer / Tandem Engineer
• Location: Hybrid – Houston, TX (3 days onsite)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Connex Developer with over 13 years of experience to lead the development and troubleshooting of mission-critical transaction switching environments. This role requires an expert-level understanding of the Tandem (HP NonStop) ecosystem, specifically focusing on the Connex switch architecture. You will be responsible for managing transaction processing, debugging complex source code, and ensuring environment availability across SIT, UAT, and Certification phases for ATM and POS functionalities.
Key Responsibilities & Required Skills
Connex Switching & Transaction Processing
• Switch Architecture: Demonstrate deep expertise in Connex application design, transaction switching, and EMV standards.
• Component Mastery: Hands-on experience with Connex Environmental Database (CED), PMC, PI, TH, and CH.
• Utility Proficiency: Manage system monitoring and configuration using SMONINQY, CMSUTIL, NMI, EMS, and Prognosis.
• Functional Expertise: In-depth knowledge of ATM and POS messaging schemes and functionality.
Tandem (HP NonStop) Development
• Programming Languages: Expert-level coding in TAL, COBOL, S-COBOL, and TACL.
• Database & Tools: Advanced usage of Enscribe, FUP, Enform, SQL, DDL, and Pathway concepts.
• System Maintenance: Utilize Bind/XLD, INSPECT, Netbatch, Spooler, and Peruse for application deployment and debugging.
Environment & Troubleshooting
• Incident Resolution: Debug and fix system failure errors, performing root cause analysis for transaction drops or latency issues.
• Environment Management: Rebuild environments and ensure stability during critical testing phases (SIT/UAT/CERT).
• Install Plans: Review, test, and execute technical install plans to ensure seamless production updates.
Mandatory Technical Requirements
1. Platform Expertise: 13+ years of experience with Connex switch and Tandem (HP NonStop) systems.
1. Languages: Proficiency in TAL, COBOL, S-COBOL, and TACL.
1. Databases: Expert knowledge of Enscribe and CED (Connex Environmental Database).
1. Transaction Domain: Proven background in ATM/POS switching and EMV processing.
1. Soft Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills for high-pressure financial environments.
