Role description
Role: Senior AI Engineer Industry: Energy Location: London (hybrid 3 days per week) Contract: Initial 6 months Rate: £700-850/d inside IR35 X4 Technology are partnered with a global energy organisation to recruit a contract AI Engineer. You'll be responsible for delivering AI-driven innovations across both upstream and downstream operations, covering reliability and corrosion systems, well and reservoir management, advanced sensing / IIoT technologies, ERP systems and trading platforms. Responsibilities for the Senior AI Engineer • Design, build and deploy AI/ML systems that drive measurable business impact. • Apply advanced AI techniques - deep learning, GNNs, object detection, sensor fusion, embeddings, RAG and generative AI - to create adaptive, self-learning solutions. • Provide guidance on AI architecture and scalable deployment for autonomous, high-performance systems. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-driven insights and optimise operational decision-making. • Stay current with AI research, including LLMs and generative AI, and provide thought leadership across projects. Requirements for the Senior AI Engineer • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related STEM field. • 5+ years of practical AI or data science experience in industry or engineering. • Proven track record delivering AI solutions from concept to deployment. • Hands-on expertise in Python and AI/ML libraries • Experience with cloud platforms for model training, deployment and scaling. • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence decision-making. The role is hybrid in London (3 days per week) offering rates of £700-850/d (inside IR35). The contract is an initial 6 months, with multi-year potential.
