Role description
Oxford City Council has an exciting opportunity within their Communities and People directorate. This role is fixed term and is expected to initially run until March 2027.
This post will be an important part of Oxford City Council’s Business Intelligence Team (BI Team) and the successful candidate will be joining us at an exciting time of change with real opportunity to support in the development of the BI Team and the services we currently offer whilst enhancing their own skills by working with other professionals in this field.
There will also be the opportunity to provide the necessary analytical support required for the Council’s proposal for Local Government Reorganisation and the consultation period following submission of the proposal. You will work closely with other analysts across the organisation on projects relating to strategy development and policy reviews, providing the data and insight needed to ensure evidence-based decision making is at the heart of everything we do, to inform the City Council’s corporate priorities and plans.
This post will also provide colleagues, councillors and members of the public with information, analysis and insight on Oxford’s population, economy, housing and social issues including the interpretation of Census 2021 data.
The role will involve working in partnership with key stakeholders and services both internally and externally. You will need to be self-motivated, adaptable and flexible in your approach to work and have experience of acquiring, organising, analysing and presenting statistical information, sometimes by creating Power BI dashboards, possessing excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Having experience of supporting policy and strategy using data analysis and interpretation is key for the successful candidate. Organised and methodical, and able to pay close attention to detail, with the ability to make effective decisions, the Corporate Data Analyst will deliver on projects through up-to-date, accurate and relevant data analysis, as well as responding to ad-hoc data queries. If you are interested in using your analytical skills to make a difference in Oxford’s communities and to join a hard-working dynamic team.
