Role description
We are looking for a talented Reverse Engineer for a long-term project. This will be onsite in Springfield, VA initially and can transition to hybrid. This is a 5-year contract with benefits. TS (CSI eligible) clearance is required.
The Senior Cyber Capability Developer (Reverse Engineer) is an expert technical professional who supports national security objectives through advanced software, firmware, and system analysis. This role leverages deep reverse engineering expertise to identify vulnerabilities, extract proprietary algorithms, and uncover hidden system behaviors in support of offensive and defensive cyber missions. Operating in a fast-paced Agile environment, this individual provides technical leadership, collaborates with mission partners, and contributes directly to protecting U.S. critical infrastructure and national interests.
Clearance Requirement
β’ Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility required.
β’ Must be willing to undergo a polygraph examination if required by the customer.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead and conduct complex reverse engineering efforts on software binaries, firmware, and systems to uncover vulnerabilities, extract embedded algorithms, and understand complex functionalities supporting operational cyber objectives.
β’ Apply Agile methodologies to manage and execute reverse engineering projectsβensuring alignment with mission priorities, timely delivery, and effective collaboration with cross-functional technical teams.
β’ Identify, analyze, and document security vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and design flaws, providing actionable intelligence to mission stakeholders.
β’ Serve as a senior technical authority and mentor, guiding junior engineers and analysts in reverse engineering techniques, methodologies, and tradecraft.
β’ Collaborate closely with cyber operators, security analysts, software developers, and mission leadership to integrate findings into broader operational strategies.
β’ Prepare and maintain clear, detailed technical documentation and reporting to support intelligence production and operational decision-making.
Required Qualifications
β’ Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in reverse engineering, cybersecurity, or software development, with significant involvement in advanced reverse engineering activities.
β’ Minimum of 3 years of experience working in Agile or mission-focused technical environments, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
β’ Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
β’ U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Expertise with industry-standard reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, JEB Decompiler, and Hopper Disassembler.
β’ Experience developing, debugging, and reverse engineering mobile applications written in Java, Objective-C, or Swift.
β’ Demonstrated experience exploiting mobile devices and software to access protected or sensitive data.
β’ Strong understanding of file structures, encoding techniques, and raw binary data analysis.
β’ Proficiency in programming languages including C, C++, C#, Python, and Java, with the ability to review and manage code using Git.
β’ Experience across multiple platforms including Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS.
β’ Familiarity with ARM assembly language and mobile architecture debugging.
β’ Prior experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community (IC) missions preferred.
