Position Title: Expert Cyber Recovery Engineer / Technical Product Owner

Position Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Recovery Engineer / Technical Product Owner for a contract-to-hire opportunity (approximate 1-year contract duration) focused on supporting the buildout and operationalization of a comprehensive Cyber Recovery Program. This is a highly technical role ideally suited to professionals who thrive on hands-on engineering, cross-functional collaboration, and program execution. The selected candidate will help translate architectural frameworks and strategic direction into practical, scalable, and secure cyber recovery solutions.
β’ Support the design and execution of a robust enterprise Cyber Recovery strategy and operating model.
β’ Implement standardized processes, controls, and procedures that strengthen the organizationβs cyber recovery capabilities.
β’ Enhance and apply recovery frameworks that integrate disaster recovery processes, cybersecurity controls, and IT resiliency practices.
β’ Help define and document recovery objectives, operational procedures, engineering runbooks, and risk mitigation steps.
β’ Translate program and architectural strategy into executable engineering tasks and meaningful deliverables.
β’ Assist in defining roadmaps, technical backlogs, and priorities aligned with cyber resiliency and enterprise security objectives.
β’ Work closely with engineering, operations, infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to embed cyber recovery solutions and processes across technology platforms.
β’ Provide technical expertise for designing cyber recovery architectures, secure recovery environments, backup strategies, and related tooling.
β’ Evaluate and recommend recovery technologies, patterns, and implementation approaches ensuring alignment with architecture guidelines, security requirements, and industry best practices.
β’ Ensure recovery solutions meet the needs of critical applications and comply with regulatory, compliance, and enterprise resiliency requirements.
β’ Collaborate with business, compliance, and risk management stakeholders to capture resiliency needs and align technical execution efforts.
β’ Participate in technical discussions, dependency mapping, readiness activities, and solution development across functional teams and domains.
β’ Help develop and refine cyber recovery policies, procedures, standards, and supporting governance frameworks.
β’ Contribute to tracking cyber recovery readiness metrics, reporting dashboards, and operational performance indicators.
β’ Provide clear communication of technical concepts, progress, risks, and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
β’ Support enterprise-wide cyber resilience initiatives, compliance audits, and regulatory reporting requirements as needed.
β’ Champion organizational understanding of cyber recovery priorities, capability rollouts, and program progress.
Essential Skills, Experience
β’ Minimum of 7 years professional experience within cybersecurity, disaster recovery, infrastructure engineering, backup/recovery, or enterprise resiliency domains.
β’ Direct, hands-on experience implementing and operating recovery/disaster recovery technologies and cyber controls.
β’ Strong, practical understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud environments, security controls, and enterprise backup/recovery technologies.
β’ Evidence of converting architectural and program guidance into pragmatic, technically feasible engineering solutions.
β’ Proven experience developing or enhancing recovery engineering runbooks, processes, and operational frameworks.
β’ Demonstrated ability to navigate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams in infrastructure, cloud, application, and security domains.
β’ Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to varying audiences.
β’ Comfortable managing competing priorities and working both independently and as part of a highly collaborative, high-functioning team.
Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
β’ Familiarity with cyber resilience standards/frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO.
β’ Experience with cyber recovery vaults, immutable backup approaches, ransomware recovery tooling, or designing secure recovery environments is a strong plus.
β’ Prior experience working in large-scale, complex, or regulated enterprise environments is preferred.
β’ Exposure to technical product ownership, backlog refinement, and/or agile delivery models is considered an asset.
