Role description
Position Title Data Analyst / Data Migration Analyst
Job Location Remote
Duration Long term Contract
Description:
• Assist with migration of large training data sets in MS Excel and CSV formats.
• Perform data cleansing tasks as directed by team leads.
• Cross-validate data to ensure accuracy and quality throughout the migration process.
• Test and verify migrated data to confirm successful transfer and integrity.
• Utilize strong Excel skills, including basic string and date manipulation functions.
• Apply lookup functions and create pivot tables for efficient data analysis.
• Work effectively in an O365 environment, with familiarity in MS Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
• Handle large CSV data sets, ensuring proper management with UTF character set compatibility.
Preferred but not required:
• Understanding of relational data concepts and normalization.
• Experience using Power Query in Excel.
• Background as a learning technology specialist, learning coordinator, LMS admin, or Workday admin
Must-Have Skills
• Strong Excel expertise
o Lookup functions: XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP
o String functions: LEFT, RIGHT, FIND, etc.
o Date formatting
o Data comparison across datasets
• Experience working with:
o large datasets (500K–1M rows)
o CSV files & data handling nuances (character sets, formatting issues)
• Prior experience in:
o Data migration / data handling between systems
o Power Query
Nice-to-Have Skills
• Power BI (preferred but not required)
• Experience with:
o LMS systems
o Learning & Development domain
o Tools like Cornerstone, SumTotal, Workday Learning (not mandatory)
Data Environment
• Typical dataset size:
o 500K rows (common)
o Up to 1M rows (less frequent)
• Data may need:
o Cleaning of legacy system references (e.g., file paths)
o String manipulation to extract relevant values
• Output constraints:
o Data splits (~150K rows) due to Power BI limitations
