Overview
TPG is hiring an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join an enterprise-level analytics and engineering team working on some of the most data-intensive systems in the energy sector. If you're passionate about building cloud-native, high-performance data pipelines using AWS, Spark, Python, and more, and want to work in a highly visible, high-impact role, this is the opportunity.
This is a long-term contract supporting enterprise data strategy and digital transformation for a Fortune 150 company. Youβll collaborate with data architects, data scientists, developers, and IT leaders to design and implement next-gen data lake and analytics solutions using the latest AWS services and automation tools.
What Youβll Do
β’ Design and develop scalable data pipelines and infrastructure using AWS, Spark/PySpark, and Python
β’ Work hands-on with big data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows
β’ Leverage services like AWS EMR, Glue, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, and DynamoDB
β’ Support data architects and scientists with optimized data structures and pipelines for analytics, ML, and reporting
β’ Use Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and PostgreSQL for relational data access
β’ Troubleshoot, optimize, and scale cloud-based data systems across large volumes and multiple teams
β’ Ensure best practices for cloud security, cost-efficiency, and performance are followed
Required Skills
β’ 5+ years of AWS cloud engineering and Python development experience
β’ 3+ years of PySpark/Spark experience working on high-volume data sets
β’ Deep hands-on experience with:
β’ AWS Glue, Lambda, EMR, Step Functions
β’ Terraform, S3, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB
β’ Strong collaboration and communication skills working across IT and data teams
β’ Ability to work onsite in Charlotte, NC 3 days per week
Nice to Have
β’ Experience building high-performing, scalable cloud applications
β’ Familiarity with Kubernetes and broader AWS services ecosystem
β’ Knowledge of data modeling and analytics workflows in regulated or enterprise environments
