Role description
Job Title: Data Analyst Contract Duration: 13 months Location: Minneapolis, MN Overview: • Our client is seeking a contract Data Analyst to support residential solar and energy efficiency programmed, including rebates, incentives, and high‐efficiency equipment initiatives. This role sits within the Energy Efficiency function and focuses on ensuring data is accurate, trusted, well‐governed, and meaningful for business users. • This is a junior‐level opportunity with strong mentoring from senior analysts, ideal for candidates looking to grow their technical skills while developing stakeholder communication and data storytelling capabilities. Responsibilities: • Perform data collection, analysis, validation, cleansing, and reporting across multiple data sources • Review and validate incoming data, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and quality issues • Design, code, test, debug, and document ETL processes, SQL queries, and stored procedures • Build, maintain, and document data pipelines, data dictionaries, and validation rules • Partner with IT teams to resolve data pipeline issues and implement data quality controls • Extract and analyse data from relational databases, manual files, and external sources • Develop, enhance, and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI • Create and publish scheduled and ad hoc reports for internal stakeholders • Respond to data and reporting inquiries from business, programme, and project teams • Translate complex data findings into clear, non‐technical insights and recommendations • Support self‐service analytics by enabling and gradually training business users • Act as a data steward, ensuring data accuracy, governance, and regulatory sensitivity Required Qualifications: • Up to 3 years of experience in a data analyst or similar analytics role (flexible for strong candidates) • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases • Experience with data validation, data quality, and data governance concepts • Working knowledge of Python for data analysis or pipeline support • Experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI • Expert‐level proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem‐solving skills • Ability to explain data clearly in plain, non‐technical language • Comfortable working with messy, undocumented, or ambiguous data • Strong communication and relationship‐building skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Databricks (trainable) • Familiarity with Jira or similar work‐tracking tools • Experience designing or supporting data pipelines and ETL processes • Exposure to analytics in regulated or compliance‐driven industries • Experience supporting training, enablement, or self‐service analytics initiatives
