Role description
We are seeking a Data Analytics / Business Intelligence Consultant to support Finance and HR teams in designing and maintaining position-level change tracking and analytics. This role is a 24-month contract position that has the possibility to convert to the client at the end.
This role is focused on transforming complex, event-driven position lifecycle data (creation, elimination, modification, replacement, overlap, etc.) into structured, auditable data models and clear, actionable reporting. You’ll work with messy, multi-source datasets and collaborate closely with Finance, HR, and Operations stakeholders to deliver insights that explain what changed, when it changed, and why.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and maintain data models that track position lifecycle events over time
• Develop data structures linking original positions to subsequent changes, including replacements and transitions
• Build transformation logic to capture granular position changes, including:
• Cost center updates
• Position eliminations and replacements
• Level or grade changes
• Start/end date modifications
• Overlapping positions (backfills, transitions, phased replacements)
• Create dashboards and reporting views that clearly communicate:
• What changed
• When it changed
• Why it changed (change drivers)
• Net impact over time
• Historical, current, and future position counts
• Distribution by key attributes (levels, locations, etc.)
• Ensure all data outputs are traceable, auditable, and easy for non-technical stakeholders to understand
• Partner with Finance and HR to validate logic, assumptions, and business rules
Required Qualifications
• 3–5 years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Analytics Engineering
• Advanced SQL skills, including experience with:
• Historical datasets
• Data transformations
• Effective dating and versioning
• Strong experience designing relational data models
• Experience building dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
• Ability to translate complex business processes into scalable data models and reporting solutions
• Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with technical and business teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with HR systems or workforce/position data
• Exposure to finance or headcount planning use cases
• Familiarity with slowly changing dimensions (SCDs), audit trails, or historical tracking
• Experience in fast-changing organizational environments
