Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid)
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Potential Extension)

About the Role:
Brooksource is seeking a Data Analyst / Power BI Developer to serve as a key contributor within a growing analytics function. This individual will help transform raw data into actionable insights, supporting stakeholders across multiple program areas.
A large public-sector organization is continuing its expansion of enterprise data and analytics capabilities, leveraging Power BI and modern data platforms to support program performance and operational decision-making. This environment sits at the intersection of policy, data, and technology, supporting critical human services programs across a statewide network.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level data professional to expand their experience working with enterprise-scale data systems, gain exposure to government and human services data, and further develop advanced Power BI and SQL skills in a highly impactful environment.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support operational and program-level decision-making
• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple relational data sources
• Build and maintain data models using DAX and Power Query (M language) to support scalable reporting solutions
• Translate business requirements from non-technical stakeholders into clear, intuitive visualizations and reporting outputs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, program staff, and leadership
Qualifications
• 2–4 years of experience in a Data Analyst or BI Developer role
• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including dashboards, DAX, Power Query, and data modeling
• Proficiency in SQL and experience querying relational databases (SQL Server preferred)
• Ability to translate business needs into technical reporting solutions
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and integrity
• Experience working independently and managing deliverables in a structured environment
• Excellent communication skills — ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
