Job Description:
Apex Systems has an opening available for a Data Analyst with one of our GovCon clients out of Rosslyn, VA. The Data Analyst will support enterprise-wide data governance, quality assurance, and security initiatives for the Department of Defense (DoD). This role will help define and implement data policies, frameworks, and technologies that ensure the secure, compliant, and effective use of data across the DoD enterprise. #Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Key Responsibilities:
• Define and implement data governance policies, including roles for data ownership, stewardship, and custodianship
• Establish and enforce data classification and handling policies (e.g., CUI, Secret, Top Secret) aligned with DoD and CDAO standards
• Design and maintain a data governance framework covering roles, processes, and lifecycle management
• Support and manage the Data Governance Board, including scheduling meetings, resolving data-related issues, and reporting on compliance metrics
• Develop and implement data quality processes including validation, cleansing, monitoring, and metric development (accuracy, completeness, consistency)
• Evaluate and integrate data governance tools for metadata management, lineage tracking, access control, and auditing
• Standardize data collection and integration protocols across DoD systems to ensure interoperability and reliability
• Implement data security controls and privacy protections, including encryption for data at rest and in transit
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and privacy regulations (e.g., DoDI 8500.01, RMF, NIST SP 800-53, HIPAA, GDPR)
• Develop and enforce data storage and retention policies, ensuring secure lifecycle management and disposal
• Create and execute implementation plans for data masking solutions, including stakeholder engagement, testing, and training
• Deploy and validate data masking techniques across systems and databases to ensure usability and security
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• 10+ years expereince in Data Analysis, Cybersecurity, and/or relevant work experience
• Bachelors degree; additional years experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and compliance standards
• Experience with DoD data classification, cybersecurity policies, and privacy regulations
• Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Talend)
• Proficiency in data quality management, lifecycle tracking, and metadata management
• Experience supporting governance boards or councils in a federal or defense context
• Ability to translate technical data concepts into actionable policy and operational guidance
• Experience with SAP IT systems and mission-critical DoD platforms is a plus
